Modern manufacturing facilities require safety solutions that protect human operators without sacrificing throughput or floor space efficiency. Industrial light curtains provide an open, non-intrusive safety barrier that replaces bulky metal cages and slow mechanical doors. By establishing an invisible infrared safeguard across machine access points, light curtains allow operators to safely interact with high-speed automated equipment, feed raw materials, and clear jams with maximum operational speed and visibility.Light curtain configurations cater to diverse industrial environments and automation layouts:Point-of-Operation Machine Guarding: Compact and mini light curtains with rapid response times ($\le 10\text{ ms}$) mount directly to power presses, injection molding machines, and die-casting equipment to prevent press stroke initiation whenever an operator enters the die area.Perimeter and Access Guarding: Through-beam safety curtains spanning wide operating distances secure entire perimeter zones surrounding robotic welding cells, automated palletizers, and material handling gantries.Dimensional Measurement and Sorting: Beyond personnel safety, specialized measuring light curtains utilize continuous beam scanning with RS485 Modbus or 4–20 mA analog feedback to measure object height, profile dimensions, and position on high-speed conveyor lines.Engineered for aggressive factory floors, rugged light curtains feature IP65/IP68 waterproof and dustproof enclosures, anti-vibration rubber dampers, and space-saving side-light profiles. By reducing machine stop-and-restart overhead, light curtain technology elevates overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) while maintaining uncompromising workplace safety.
